Whenever a storm or rain event lashes the country there’s a good chance that rainwater overflow carrying toxins and contaminants will spill into our rivers and harbours.
Replacing an ageing infrastructure network is a recognisable long-term solution, but there are a range of methodologies that can be deployed too. Innovative design can often help lessen the impact of heavy rain, particularly in urban areas.
In our May issue of LG magazine we are running an editorial on innovation in stormwater management, and talking with a leading group of consultants about what is considered the current ‘best practice.’
If your council is involved in a stormwater management programme or project that reflects the challenge- we’d be very interested to hear about. Please contact Charles Fairbairn or Ruth Le Pla for further discussion.
We look forward to tackling this subject.
